Playwell is a women-owned small business that provides prenatal, early childhood classes, and workshops for parents and caregivers.  In addition, we offer individual speech and occupational therapy sessions as well as consultative services on prenatal, early childhood, and preschool age topics. Our primary focus is to leverage the inherent benefits of play to support the physical, emotional, and social development of infants, toddlers, and preschool age children.

Why Playwell?

Playwell's owners are parents. We understand that you want to give your child the best opportunity, let us help!
Our services inspire and stimulate growth through play and hands-on experience (aka FUN!).
Children blossom with confidence to explore and learn when others enter their world of play and imagination!

-Have you heard about free DC pre-kindergarten, but haven’t yet done the research to figure out how it works? Confused about charter schools versus public schools?

-Is your child 2 or 3 years old and you want to learn about the lottery process, but are dreading combing through DC government websites to learn more and make your choices?

-Pretty savvy about DC school options, but not sure which school is right for your child and their needs?

Whatever your level of knowledge, “Navigating the DC Pre-Kindergarten Lottery” will provide insight on DC’s pre-k programs, the lottery system, and your family’s options, helping you find the right fit for your child.  The seminar will cover basic eligibility and lottery info, different pre-k models such as Montessori and bilingual programs, sources of data on schools, and tips for finding a school that fits your needs. And if a drink will help you through this process, Colony Club's downstairs bar will be open for purchases.

This 1.5-hour seminar is led by Lindsay Ferrer, an expert in early childhood education with almost two decades experience. In addition to degrees in developmental psychology and education policy, Lindsay is a certified Pre-K Classroom observer, using the CLASS (Classroom Assessment Scoring System.) Lindsay has observed and provided feedback on teacher quality and professional development needs in dozens of DC Public Schools, charter schools, and community-based pre-k programs, as well as infant and toddler programs. Lindsay has lived in the DC area for almost 15 years and looks forward to finding the right pre-k program for her 2-year-old son soon!
