About Katie

Katie provides Early Intervention services through Playwell.

Katie Scarlett is a licensed and ASHA-certified speech-language pathologist who is passionate about supporting early communication and development in children from birth to age three. Through her partnership with PlayWell DC, Katie provides Strong Start services to families across Washington, DC, helping young children build a solid foundation for lifelong learning.

In addition to her clinical work, Katie is deeply involved in the Deaf community and brings a strong foundation in American Sign Language (ASL) to her practice. She specializes in working with Deaf and hard of hearing children and families, as well as supporting early ASL language acquisition and bilingual (spoken language + ASL) development.

With experience across home, clinic, and community settings, Katie is committed to empowering families through collaborative, play-based, and strengths-centered intervention.

We refer families (outside of DC Early Intervention) seeking services for Deaf and hard of hearing children and families to Katie! You can contact her directly at the website below.

Katie is also the founder and owner of Crowned With Confidence Speech-Language Therapy, a private practice offering individualized speech and language services. Her practice accepts most major insurance plans and is dedicated to providing accessible, culturally responsive care.
